Quote:
A piece out of Bertolt Brecht's "Stories of Mr. Keuner"
"What do you do," someone asked Mr. K, "when you love a person?"
"Well, I create a design (1) of them", replied Mr. K, "and I make sure that the two match up."
"Who? The design [matches the person]?"
"No", replied Mr. K, "the person [matches the design]".(2)

Mr. K has more faith in his design than the person.
1) First he has a person he loves.
2) Then he creates a simulation of the person - a design
3) Then the design is taken to be more important or real (as the object of love) than the person since the person has to conform to it
4) Finally only the design matters because the real person may never conform to the design and this hyper-real design is who Mr. K loves. The design has simulated reality, masked it, made up for the absence of those qualities in the original and now is who is loved and so more real (to Mr. K) than the real person (as the object of love).
